These are high value, interdisciplinary topics of outmost importance to the trainee. The topics are developed and delivered by the SCFHS Medical Education department to ensure that every trainee receives high quality teaching and develops essential core knowledge. These topics are common and beneficial to all clinical specialties.

Learning objectives:

1- Impactful: these are topics that are common or life-threatening

2- Interdisciplinary: topics that are difficult to teach by a single discipline

3- Practical: topics that trainees will encounter in hospital practice

Assessment:

Topics are delivered in a modular fashion. At the end of each learning unit there is an on-line formative assessment. All trainees must attain minimum competency in each unit. Alternatively, these topics can be assessed in a summative manner along with specialty examination.
